This may one of the most influential U.S. Open tournaments and one of the most difficult to win. With young players finally stepping up and showing they can win the veterans have some serious competition. With Tiger Woods slowly getting back to his top form it remains to be seen if you is ready to win a major. Given the way Tiger has prepared for majors in the past, and how badly he must want this one, we would have to say he has a great chance of being near the top. The new and improved Phil Mickelson has continued his strong play and seems ready to make a play at the number one spot.
The PGA Tour is the most evenly balanced since Tiger Woods came on tour and started dominating. Each week there are a host of players that can legitimately be considered contenders. In the past it may have just been a few. The U.S. Open is setting up to be a guessing game and exciting watch.
