Phil Mickelson finally found his game last weekend at the Shell Houston Open. After struggling all year it all came together for a spectacular weekend finish and his first victory in nearly a year. The win also makes the years first major a very important one.
Phil Mickelson climbed to number three in the world rankings. This dropped Tiger Woods to number seven. With a win Phil Mickelson can claim his fourth green jacket and the number one ranking. Given Phil’s play at Augusta National over the last seven years, it is difficult not to call him the outright favorite to win. But just like Phil, Tiger seems to find his game every year at Augusta so it is difficult to call. There is no doubt that Phil is finally carrying some momentum into next week. We will have to see if it will be enough to claim the top spot.
