While the PGA Tour kicked of the Bob Hope today many are looking forward to the Farmers Insurance open at Torrey Pines. Tiger traditionally made his yearly debut at this event. An injury and personal scandal kept him out of the field for the past two years. The first quarter of 2011 is perhaps the most important time in Wood’s career. Having not won a tournament last year Tiger has a lot of people talking. With the career major championship record within sight Tiger is no doubt training as hard as he ever has.
In 2011 it will be the competition that Tiger has to deal with. In his absence several dozen players came to the forefront and proved to the world they can win at any event. If there is a friendly place for Tiger to win it is Torrey Pines. Tiger is nearly unbeatable at the San Diego area track. It seems that for the first time people are really doubting whether Tiger can reclaim his once unquestionable dominance. Without the distractions it seems that he will be ably to apply himself fully to the game for the first time in several years. Given his work ethic, it is hard to imagine Tiger going without a win again this year.
