Rocco Mediate finished birdie, eagle, par to win the Frys.com Open by one stroke over Bo Van Pelt and Alex Prugh. Mediate finished with a final round 73 that was just enough to seal the win and perhaps more importantly he will be exempt on the PGA Tour for the next two seasons. Following his magical performance at the 2008 U.S. Open, where he lost in a Monday playoff to Tiger Woods, Mediate has spent more time in the announcers booth than the winners circle. That will all change for the next two years as his win will allow him to play in many more tournaments.
Mediate continues the trend of the old veterans and young guns trading wins on the PGA Tour. Rickie Fowler finished in solo fourth place just two shots back. It is clear that players of all ages are ready to win on Tour.
