Job summary:

Serves members and guests in the bar and dining areas by effectively managing all aspects of bar operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service by utilizing “ACE Service Absolutes”, when greeting members and guests in a cheerful and helpful manner; offering daily drink and menu specials; taking beverage orders from customers and servers; mixing various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following standard company recipes; serving wine, beer and mixed drinks to bar and/or dining room patrons, upselling where appropriate; taking orders for food served at bar, transmit to kitchen and deliver to customer ensuring proper presentation and quality standards are met; bussing tables in bar area and suggesting further sales to customers; calculating and presenting bill and collect payment for each order
  • Maintain bar efficiency and continuity of service by stocking napkins, silverware and condiments; preparing garnish trays for drinks (sliced fruit, pitted fruit); replacing beer kegs and soda bags/canisters as necessary; keeping bar area clean (mop floor, vacuum carpet, scrub sinks, wipe mirrors and counters, keep drains clear, etc.); arranging bottles, glasses and merchandise drinks in an attractive display; checking inventory levels and restocking supplies on shelves, refrigerators and storage area, refill ice bins to ensure sufficient supply throughout the day; operate stereo and television in the bar area for customer entertainment; inform manager of supply shortages or special customer requests
  • Manage bar operations by recording every transaction in the register at the time of sale; following sanitation procedures (washing and sterilizing glassware, cleaning bar equipment, dispensers and tools thoroughly); ensuring that stock is appropriate to promotions and events taking place; minimizing waste by using inventory efficiently; verifying amount in cash drawer and balancing drawer against receipts; close bar by locking bar area and storing liquor in a secure cabinet
  • Protect the organization, members and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies including confirming legal drinking age and discontinuing service to intoxicated guests

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding attendance, timekeeping, dress code and safety
  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding customer comments and special requests
  • Assist other areas of food and beverage service as needed
  • Update display board with items available and special promotions
  • Order liquor, beverages and supplies as needed and approved by management
  • Set up portable bar for indoor or outdoor sales, manage cash box and/or tally sheet, clean and store portable bar after use
  • May prepare snacks such as popcorn
  • May receive deliveries
  • May tend bar at banquets and catered events
  • May be required to train and/or oversee the work of co-workers
  • Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma required (Specialty/Technical training preferred) and 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • T.A.B.C. certification required
  • Graduate of bartending school preferred
  • Must be of legal age or sell and serve alcoholic beverages, applicable state card or certificate must be provided if required by state law
  • Knowledge of ingredients for various mixed drinks, knowledge of food, wine and service etiquette
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests, co-workers and management
  • Strong interpersonal and customer skills
  • Ability to diffuse potential conflicts
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, perform multiple tasks and prioritize while exercising patience
  • Experience handling cash and credit card transactions
  • Basic math skills, ability to use calculator and cash register or point of sale system
  • Ability to use the following equipment: blender, coffee maker, sharp knives, ice machine, refrigerator, dish washer, etc.
