Job summary:

Promotes, organizes and executes tournaments by managing related marketing and logistics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize “ACE Service Absolutes” by acknowledging, greeting and thanking all members and guests.
  • Determine annual tournament sales targets by collaborating with General Manager
  • Establish and attain annual tournament sales targets utilizing marketing tools including blitz and cold calling; identifying and pursuing target markets; networking in the community; maintaining relationships with previous tournament groups and following up on all potential leads
  • Fulfill administrative requirements of tournament execution by maintaining a “Trace file” or “Tickler” file system; developing and adhering to event contracts; delivering work orders to appropriate departments; creating a closing report at the conclusion of each tournament; maintaining database of tournament hosts
  • Generate revenue by collecting deposits and payments from tournament hosts
  • Manage tournament logistics by communicating event requirements in advance to appropriate departments, i.e. Executive Chef/Catering Manager regarding food and beverage service and presentation; Superintendent to ensure that course is in tournament condition
  • Maintain customer service standards during event by overseeing performance of pro shop and food and beverage personnel
  • Ensure host satisfaction by establishing a close working relationship prior to and during the event; addressing host questions or concerns; attending tournament and being available to manage all host or participant needs as well as enforcing tournament rules and regulations; following up with members and guests post-event to gain feedback

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Respond to any tournament participant grievances
  • Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree required and 1 year of related experience in sales, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of experience overseeing events or tournaments in the golf/hospitality/service industry
  • Experience resolving customer issues/complaints as well as overall excellent customer service required
  • Strong leadership and people skills, plus the ability to build and foster a team environment desired
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Fairways 2000
  • Competent operation of a golf cart required
  • Basic math skills to calculate figures, percentages, etc. required
  • Ability to compose clear and concise correspondence required
  • Solid time management, organization and prioritization skills, ability to work with little or no direct supervision
  • Valid driver’s license required
