Turf Maintenance Mechanic

Job summary:

Maintains service and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, and tools following operations manuals and manufacturer’s instructions; assisting clubhouse maintenance and cart mechanic with fabrications as needed; adjusting reels and back lap reels
Maintain equipment, parts and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
Provide mechanical maintenance reports by maintaining documentation of repairs and parts ordering
Provide information and training on proper use/maintenance of equipment by communicating with co-workers
Oversee shop area maintenance by ensuring that shop remains clean and orderly, tools are kept clean and in proper working condition
Ensure success of operations by obtaining event information from all departments in order to follow through with special maintenance requirements and requests
Maintain continuity of service by acting as go-to person in resolving escalated maintenance issues; providing training, direction and evaluating the work of other Maintenance Mechanics

Order equipment and supplies as needed and approved by management, maintain good working relationship with vendors and vendor mechanics
Perform fabrication when typical problem solving has not proven effective
Efficiently process warranty requirements
Maintain familiarity with all safety programs
Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management

High school diploma required (Specialty/Technical Training preferred) and 2 years of related experience in reel grinding, small engine repair, welding, electrical, carpentry; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to operate the following equipment is required: diesel, electric and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, backhoes, skidsteers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work, reel grinders, mowing equipment and small tools
Ability to read and follow manuals, evaluate manufacturer’s specifications and manipulate problems with equipment
Basic abilities with Word and Excel software
Valid driver’s license is required
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management, in some locations Spanish speaking is helpful
