2015 is just a few days away and represents a time when many of us reflect on what we have accomplished and what we might want to do differently going forward. Common focus tends to go to spotlight career, fitness, health, and travel. But this time around, why not be bold and add playing a new sport like FootGolf to your list? A good warm up to getting acquainted with the idea of kicking it at a local golf course near you is by tuning into the premiere of the final final season of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory on New Year’s Day. It is an episode where Rob and his partner in crime Christopher “Big Black” Boykin play in a FootGolf tournament hosted at Vista Valencia Golf Course in Los Angeles County.
While Rob and Big Black might not be ready to win tournaments on the US Pro-Am FootGolf Tour, the duo had a fun time playing FootGolf and taking in the scenery in of Vista Valencia. FootGolf is growing in popularity in North America since being introduced by the American FootGolf League in 2011. The wave of excitement for the golf-soccer hybrid has now reached 300 courses in 43 states and has sparked the creation of several FootGolf associations such as the California FootGolf Association, which hosted the tournament that Rob and Black kicked in.
Vista Valencia offers nine holes of FootGolf fun for $10 and you can bring your own soccer ball or rent balls for $5 each. For busy, working professionals who may not have the time to play 18 hole rounds, FootGolf can serve as a family activity substitute. Parents can play with their children and still enjoy the ambiance and experience of a golf course.
“Soccer is a game everyone is comfortable playing, and FootGolf is no different. It truly is a game for the entire family, not just dad,” said Adam Hill, general manager of of Vista.
The team at American Golf Corporation is highly supportive of the movement. In addition to FootGolf in Los Angeles County at Vista Valencia, there is also FootGolf in Orange County at Lake Forest Golf and Practice Center in Alameda County, at Monarch Bay Golf Club, and in Oklahoma City at Silverhorn Golf Club.
The final final season of “Fantasy Factory” broadcasts on Thursday, January 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Episodes following the FootGolf edition will see Rob and the team get into other creative sports such as toe wrestling, dynamite explosions, ostrich races, and acting as human cannons.
