The HSBC Championship played in the UAE had an extremely impressive field for an early season event. Tiger, McIlroy, Donald, Westwood, and of course Robert Rock. Unlike the unfortunate collapse by Kyle Stanley at the Farmer’s, Robert Rock beat the greatest golfer of all time and the most heralded young talent in recent years. Considering Rock was a club pro a few years ago, he displayed an incredible amount of control. There is little doubt that Kyle Stanley will win on the PGA Tour and last weekend can be a great learning experience. Brandt Snedeker handled the situation well and understood the impact on Kyle Stanley. While Tiger could not hold on to win on Sunday, his drastically improved play has golf fans excited for the season to come. McIlroy may take Mickelson’s place as Tiger’s biggest rival. If McIlroy puts together a tournament like the U.S. Open and Tiger completes his return, we could have some of the most exciting major championships in history. As golf fans, we can only hope that everything continues to improve for Woods.
