ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (December 17, 2025) – American Golf Corporation is pleased to recognize Gerome Espinoza, PGA, Head Golf Professional at Tanoan Country Club, for being named the 2025 Sun Country Section PGA Merchandiser of the Year in the Private Club Category. The award was announced during the Sun Country PGA’s annual meeting and awards banquet, celebrating excellence across the region’s golf professionals.
The Sun Country PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award honors professionals who demonstrate outstanding achievement in retail strategy, innovation, visual presentation, and overall merchandise performance. Winners are selected across Private, Public, and Resort categories, with Espinoza earning top recognition among private clubs for his thoughtful, member-focused approach.

Since taking the helm of golf operations at Tanoan Country Club two years ago, Espinoza has elevated both the on-course and retail experience, creating a golf shop environment that complements the club’s culture and enhances member engagement. His work extends beyond merchandising, contributing to the overall vitality of the club and reinforcing American Golf’s commitment to operational excellence.
Espinoza has earned multiple accolades throughout his career, including the Sun Country PGA Player Development Award, and has received numerous nominations in additional categories. A Duke City native, he was elected earlier this year to the Sun Country PGA Section Board of Directors and has been recognized by the PGA of America as a “Specialized” Golf Professional, currently progressing toward “Certified” status.
